Martinique + Stephen The Joinery, Brisbane
Starting the design process with our clients always begins with the completion of a pretty awesome (well we think so anyway) questionnaire and a collection of inspiration images to get to know our couple’s personalities and style.
Martinique + Stephen’s story was anything but ordinary and with over 1,500 (wowza!) inspiration images of modern architecture, travel pics, fashion snaps, flowers galore and the odd RnB/Beyonce/Jay Z reference we knew we had something juicy to sink our teeth into!
We love creating our magic interstate and this time we had only eyes for Brisbane.
The look for the ceremony was modern and structural yet romantic, held at The Queensland State Library. A dramatic black carpet runner lead to florals of deep burgundy and blush tones pouring over a series of modern black mirrored plinths.
Post ceremony dinner and dancing awaited guests at The Joinery where we shook things up a little with a bold colour palette of blush, fushia, magenta, deep red, black and gold! Sharp, modern finishes of mirror and lighting installations set the tone whilst some seriously epic florals adorned the tables.
Personality is key in our designs so knowing that we had some rnb loverrrrs on our hands we couldn’t help but add a little Biggie Smalls flavour to the mix! A custom “It was all a dream” neon was designed to layer over a ‘smashed mirror’ effect creating some serious attitude behind the bar!
An installation of linear light beams floated throughout the dramatic industrial style ceiling, dripping down behind the dj where guests definitely got the P is for Party memo!
Martinique and Stephen thank you for letting our ideas run wild and letting us be a part of your special day, you were an absolute dream!

Private Property events are our favourite because we know we’re going to be up for a good challenge!
After we met our gorgeous couple, Dani and Chris at their stunning family property, we were in love! With them AND the blank canvas we were going to be playing in.
With every event, we like to do the unexpected. With a property like this, we’re usually asked to bring the charm of the area and the outdoors into the design. So when Dani and Chris said yes to the look and feel being all about them edgy, glamorous city vibes, we fell even harder in love.
Buses dropped guests off close to the ceremony location where they were greeted with Moet Piccolo’s. The short and sweet service took place in front of an over overflowing garden install made of roses and rich foliage.
For Pre Dinner Drinks guests were welcomed to grab a drink from the custom bar which featured raised black mirrored letters, backlit and adorned with dripping florals. Plush velvet sofas created lounge pods, allowing guests to chill and relax both during pre dinner drinks and during the night’s festivities.
When it was time to sit down and feast, guests were escorted to their seats at the stunning marble dining tables. Black for the centre bridal table and white for the outer guest tables. Instead of an overhead installation above the bridal table, we opted for floral arrangements at varied heights, each arrangement sculpted slightly differently from the next.
A night of revelry requires just the right DJ backdrop, and so in line with all the other details, the DJ area featured a black marble booth, dripping florals and a decal quote with a hip hop spin (perfectly Dani and Chris).
As the guests hit the D-floor and the stars came out, our 3metre “There’s no stopping us right now” neon lit the field nearby and became the centrepiece that set the tone for the epic party until the wee hours.
Now enjoy these beautiful pics by our friends Erin & Tara of the lovely Dani + Chris.

Jess + Ben Aerial, South Wharf
Jess and Ben reminded us that love is ageless and when you know, you just know. There was no question that these young lovers were destined to grow old together and it was our honour to celebrate the beginning of their forever.
The big day itself couldn’t have been more perfectly scripted. The sun was beaming over the Malvern Gardens and the sweet folksy sound of Feter Hendel serenaded guests as they made their way to the Chuppah. The look and feel was romantic yet modern with a boho edge. Placed along the aisle we created puffs of wild florals and grasses which lead to the birch structure decked out with blush and neutral toned florals.
Over at Aerial, South Wharf we turned down the lights and everything got sexy. Clouds of Gypsophilla crept down the staircase to the bottom where a pool of candles flickered across a decal of Jess and Ben’s favourite quote.
The fun pink acrylic seating chart let all their ‘favourite people’ know they were in for a treat! That moment once the curtains were drawn, revealing our floral installation with its custom neon illuminating the dance floor and dining tables was pretty special. The first tablescape design used rose terrazzo tiles and luxe low lying florals. The second was a metallic gold hoop adorned with blush roses, gyp, pampas and phalaenopsis orchids.
All the lovers, young and old, danced the night away and memories that will last a lifetime were made that night. It was our privilige to hand craft the perfect day for this perfect couple.
“Take a lover who looks at you like maybe you are magic”. And that they did…
Big big love to you Jess + Ben, you are magic.

If you can’t feel your feet the next morning you know it was a pretty epic party! E.P.I.C!
So let’s go back… to not too long ago when we celebrated this one special day with two very special humans.. and partied like never before! One of the humans in particular, you may know…
She’s my partner in crime in this little business we’ve built called The Style Co. and someone who more than anyone I had hoped would find the love of her life. After all, our jobs are to create for our couples, the backdrop for the first day of the rest of their lives and folks, this little lady, does it with such incredible passion, it’s no wonder our fridge (and drawers) are filled with such moving thank you notes.
Of course I’m talking about our very own Sarah (Sez) and she’s made one very dapper Damien (Dam) a bona fide happy little vegemite.
The love story can only be described as a classic Rom-com! Although we weren’t there to witness the awkward playground ‘friendship’ in primary and high school, we could see why this friendship had stood decades and grew into a love that will continue (as the hashtag says)… forevs!
Their friendship is one constant competition about who’s funnier than who (we still can’t decide) and Dam’s unparalleled OCD-ness and love for shiny fast machines somehow worked perfectly with Sez’s organised chaos, love for old industrial treasures and slow daytime bevvies amongst good company.
As Sez said in her speech, she’s been to a few weddings in her time… but this was the one.
The one where she would be our client, the one where our hand picked team would be the architects and the one to be etched into her heart (and ours) forever. It was the one she had been composing on her Pinterest board all these years without even knowing it.
So my friends, I have never been prouder to show you the wedding that will definitely be the most memorable in The Style Co. history books for me and for all the right reasons.
wait! one more message to Sez… you bloody drive me up the wall (I’m sure it’s mutual) but how can we not forget every ounce of craziness we’ve been up to over the years.. now it’s up to Dam to top it. (Dam good luck) Big big love to you both, enjoy the lifetime ahead of love, comedic impressions, peanut-butter-salted-caramel everything and so much fin, fin finning!
I can’t forget the dream team who helped make this day so amazing….. here they are

Laura + Ben The Triffid, Brisbane QLD
Laura and Ben’s big day was one achingly cool celebration. Their design brief came directly from brief heaven; take two iconic Brisbane venues (neither traditional wedding spaces) pair that with a Pinterest board that’s bursting with travel, music, design inspo (not a single wedding reference) then add two chilled human beings who trust what you do and are keen to push the boundaries – winning!
Powerhouse’s stunning sky high concrete walls were the perfect backdrop for the ceremony. Crisp white bentwood chairs were placed in a semi circle to create an intimate setting. We lined the aisle with a thick runner of lush foliage and pampas grass that continued up into an asymmetrical free standing frame.
Laura and Ben’s local live music venue, The Triffid was completely transformed for the evening. On arrival guests were invited to grab a keepsake from the fully stocked merch stand complete with L + B mugs, t-shirts, posters and caps!
The feature welcome sign was a free standing blush rendered wall with brushed copper laser cut letters that extended out through the wild greenery.
A mix of grey concrete and blush bricks were layered on the guest tables with moody, hand painted florals dripping over, black dinner candles added a hint of romance.
In true ‘muso’ spirit, we knew the stage design had to be a feature. Custom designed artwork inspired by Laura’s many pins of abstract, dripping paint designs were printed on three 5m long canvas banners and were the backdrop to the neon centrepiece that read ‘You Me Oui’. We then framed this massive stage with two epic walls of wild foliage and branches.
Hats off to Laura and Ben who didn’t let the distance between Brisbane and Melbourne get in the way of our love affair. We love our road trips and this one will forever be one of our faves!
