The Style Co. Flowers is a wedding florist specialising in Wedding Flowers and Flower Installations.

Destination weddings call for wow factor! So when Jess + Jeff approached us to create their big day here in Oz we jumped for joy! With a design brief of a relaxed, modern, Australian getaway vibe we looked no further than Cloverdel, situated in Victoria’s ridiculously picturesque countryside.

There’s no surprise, that when you’re working with foodies who have their own organic food business back home, that a ‘farm-to-table’ concept was inevitably high up on the list. So the couple enlisted the catering geniuses over at Food and Desire to bring this concept to life.

Positioned underneath the willow trees by the lake, Jess and Jeff’s ceremony backdrop grew ground up. Ivory toned florals, soft textured pampass grass, and pops of blue delphinium all nestled amongst cascading wild foliages. Picture perfect!

Guests then moved into the pre dinner drinks space where a seating chart of stacked fruit crates overflowing with fresh herbs and florals sat pretty in the garden while guests sipped on cocktails, devoured canapes and casually made friends with the wombats and wallabies in the Australian native petting zoo. Yeah, you heard us. “What’s an Australian vacay without a petting zoo right?”

Contemporary furniture pieces were selected to compliment the modern Australian design.

Layered raw sandstone was the base for our textured tablescapes. A bed of earthy moss and native foliages were teamed with them hopelessly-romantic, dusty pink roses and dancing florals.

The epic custom 5-metre linear rope installation took centre stage, surrounded by rolling dunes of moss, florals and trees creating the ultimate pop up garden!

It was a party of epic proportions and a total memory-maker for Jess, Jeff and all their family and friends. Thank you Jess & Jeff for trusting us with your big day we had a ball!

We’re very excited to announce we are the exclusive event designers and managers for Cloverdel. For all enquiries please get in contact here.

Some couples prefer to hire event planners so they can enjoy the day, writes Sandy Guy.

It can take months to plan a wedding – writing guest lists, researching venues, choosing photographers, cars, florists, searching for the dress – the list can be endless.

Some couples opt to undertake much of the planning themselves, while others call in the help of event co-ordinators.

Nicole Konstandakopoulos and Lazaros Papasavas both with in family businesses: Nicole as manager of the Lonsdale Street dining institution, Stalactites Restaurant, run by her family since 1978; Lazaros in property and his American soul food restaurant, Mr Big Stuff.

“Nicole and I were too busy with our work commitments to be hands on planning our wedding, so we decided to call in the experts,” says Lazaros.

“Like all couples, we wanted our wedding day to be perfect. As we both work in hospitality, we know what it takes to get these things right. What we didn’t want was the hassle of dealing with of dealing with all the individual suppliers, and worrying that they wouldn’t deliver to the standards we were aiming for.”

Lazaros and Nicole heard of event planners The Style Co. through word of mouth.

The Style Co. owners Marie Cruz and Sarah Gonsalves and their team of designers, florists, planners and project managers guide couples from start to finish, making sure every aspect of the wedding day runs smoothly.

“From the outset, we saw that Marie and Sarah knew what they were doing, ” says Lazaros of the initial planning of their July 2013 nuptials.

“we were very clear about the style of wedding we wanted – modern but classic; understated yet elegant. They understood us quickly, and we knew they could deliver the outcome we were after.”

Nicole and Lazaros planned a sit-down reception for 200 guests. “we looked at several venues and decided on the Carousel.”

On the banks of Albert Park Lake, this venue is popular for its views of Melbourne’s city skyline.

“The Carousel was adaptable to the style of wedding we wanted – the venue can be configured to suit your needs – and catering to 200 guests was not a problem.”

Over seven months leading up to the wedding, Nicole and Lazaros met with Marie, Sarah and the team weekly. “They dealt with all the suppliers and stayed within our budget. They handled the lot.”

Marie and Sarah were there as Nicole walked down the aisle of St. Catherine’s Greek Orthodox Church in East Malvern and beyond.

“The Style Co. ensured that everything ran smoothly through out the day, right down to when the band played and timing for food service”, says Lazaros.

Lazaros says that if he could wind back the clock he would have preferred a summer wedding, so as to make the most of warm outdoor weather. Nicole disagrees; “I loved every moment of our wedding, day it was perfect,” she says.

“We could not have achieved the outcomes we aimed for without an event planner. We came up with the concept, and Marie and Sarah translated our ideas into reality. We got exactly what we wanted with great value for money”, adds Lazaros.

“We had an amazing wedding. It wasn’t entirely stress-free, but it was as stress-free as a wedding can be,” he says.

Sometimes projects start small and evolve, but Ivy & Calvin’s started huge and then just got M-A-S-S-I-V-E!

We’re talking about a one week bump in involving 42 of our crew, 1500 bunches of flowers and foliage, 5000 faux delphiniums to completely transform a slice of lawn at The Mansion Hotel in Werribee into an enchanting dining venue. Our 5am starts and late finishes were all worth the end result.

The ceremony floral arch was an abundance of white and soft pink blooms that required the delicateness of our 15+ floral army.

The colour palette transitioned into dramatic shades of lavender, purple and fuchsia for the reception held at Werribee Mansion. Guests were greeted with signature cocktails from the marble bar, another stunning feature of this decadent marquee complete with wood floors and surrounding glass walls.

After pre dinner drinks, the curtains were drawn and the main dining space was revealed….{Insert sound of jaws dropping here}.

Above the decked out dining tables and beautiful cameo chairs hung a 17.5 metre dripping floral heaven. The beauty of the roof made only more luminous by the stunning chandeliers especially sourced from Brisbane.

Ivy & Calvin’s dreams were big and with their complete trust we were able translate their vision into one epic and smooth production. The highlight as with all our weddings was seeing their beaming faces all night long. Bravo to our amazing crew who are fiercely committed to the details and going above and beyond.

Once we discovered that Nadia and Jimmy were engaged in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, we knew we had to recreate a ‘getaway’ experience for their guests. It seemed so fitting given Nadia & Jimmy’s relaxed and down to earth nature.

This is what our team have designed for their day:

The ceremony, a classic elegant feel with a neutral colour palette that sat harmoniously against the ripe green vines at BAIE Wines.

Post ceremony, it’s time to grab a drink and mingle! We created a relaxed lounge setting under the Peppercorn tree fitted out with its own cocktail bar and brightly coloured blooms, the perfect setting for guests be treated to refreshing Mint & Lychee Coolers and Pina Coladas served by the oh-so-cool Tommy Collins crew, dressed in rolled up cinos and open collared shirts.

The guests were then ushered to the marquee for dinner. A glam resort feel with sea views to match.

They were welcomed into the clear marquee with a stunning roof installation created by our floral team; an unstructured mass of delicate foliage and white seasonal flowers cascaded down and complimented the three long tables set for Nadia & Jim’s inner circle of family and friends.

We used 450 bunches of green foliage, over 980 bunches of flowers including Hydrangrea, David Austin roses, Lisianthus, Amy Lou roses, and over 200 stems of Phalaenopsis orchids.

Nadia and Jimmy had their first dance on the open air dance floor under the stars and strung lights. Resort style lounges and cocktail tables offered guests a comfortable seat and a place to rest their drinks as they danced. No wedding is complete without a fully stocked outdoor bar decked out with more gorgeous floral arrangements.

This one was EPIC.. we calculated our planning, design and floral team would have clocked over 900 hours of planning, designing, prepping, floral arranging, setting up and packing down by the end of the wedding.

When the white marquee cover came off and we lit the final candle and straightened the last chair, we looked back and knew the sunburn, heatsrtroke, sleep deprivation, soreness, cuts and dirty feet were totally worth it… It’s still one of our favourite weddings we’ve ever created.

… more pics on our blog.

*** A SPECIAL NOTE TO OUR TEAM ***

Our work is tough! It’s hot, we’ve been working 15-18 hour days and we’re exhausted.
There were some tears from Marie at the end of this, we were so proud of our team and although the elements and time constraints proved to be difficult, we soldiered on and knew that the result would be bigger than us. It was. A statement that we and our team love what we do and despite the obstacles, we will only produce quality every time. The result… an event full of heart and soul.

To our team we love you guys. Your drive, support for each other and your passion for each project have made us so proud.

Chloe, Kat, Sammy, Zoe, Vivien, Farren, Abby, Bec, Jax, Cath & Anna.. Your talents are killer! And to our additional crew – Chloe M, Danni, Tania and Jess… Thank you for your awesomeness!

Big love,
Marie + Sarah xx

After Nicole and Laz’s first ever meeting the entire team let out a studio-wide exhale.

This stylish couple were persuasive without being pushy, honest without being offensive, inspiring without being artificial – the perfect fit for us and our creative rhythm. We all knew right from the beginning that this was going to be one of those projects that left a happy dent in the universe and we were excited!

The brief was to create something exquisitely beautiful whilst embracing a modern elegance using a neutral palette with hints of gold.

Lighting was particularly important to the couple, so we decided to make this a focal point. A large cluster of metallic geometric pendants projected intricate shadows over the dance floor and custom bar all night long.

The inspiration for the guest tables was to create something softer and romantic, juxtaposed with the edginess of the lighting installation. The tables alternated between hundreds of pillar candles scattered at varying heights and stunning luscious floral runners featuring imported peonies ( yeps in July – who does that!) and colombian roses.

It was no surprise that Nicole & Laz’s day was so memorable; their priority had always been to create something welcoming, comfortable and fun for each and every hand picked guest. The entire room was a reflector-beam of their amazing friendship and bona fide love. It was a privilege, a delight and the essence of The Style Co. to be a part of their day.
