WHY A WORKSHOP?

We are big believers in sharing our experiences with other Creatives – to make a living out of doing what they love.
So after a few kicks up the bum, we finally put pen to paper (and words and pictures into Powerpoint) and created a love-fest of workshops just for you guys.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

Creatives from all walks and general misfits – all the info we go through applies to most creative businesses who are in start-up, to growth, to get my sh*t together stage.

WHAT DO YOU COVER?

So much.. Business, making more money, turning a profit, planning for growth, creating processes that work, finding your voice and using it well… So. So. Much.

WHY SHARE SO MUCH INFO?

Why not? There’s no point in giving you half of the info you need.
We believe in giving you an ‘Access Most Areas’ pass.. We are bound by confidentiality for some things (as are all businesses).. however, the rest is pretty open.. We’ll tell you the good, the bad, the ugly and the good again.

OTHER BENEFITS?

You’ll learn stuff – pretty great stuff that you can apply to your business as soon as you walk out the door. Literally.
An invitation to some exclusive workshops (oooh) that only previous workshop attendees will have first dibs at.
But so we don’t have to keep blowing our own trumpet.. here’s what our past attendees have had to say…

WHO’S HOSTING IT?

The two chief’s Marie + Sarah are taking the day off to hang out with you beautiful people.

Check out the workshops.

We recently had the pleasure of spending the weekend with a room full of incredible humans, all at very different stages in their careers within the Wedding + Events Industry. Some were just starting to dabble on the side whilst daydreaming about having their own business one day and others were seasoned veterans with established businesses but frustrated with the unrealistic expectations of clients and the lack of financial freedom.

Everyone was united in their eagerness to learn to work smarter not harder, get more creative and create processes that would bring an efficiency and simplicity to what they do. Day 1 was dedicated to all of this plus tackling the age-old battle of what to charge and how to value your time and worth. This is a topic we’re super passionate about and feeling everyone’s energy shift from burning the candle from both ends to beaming with confidence and knowing things MUST change, was just one of the magical moments over the weekend.

Day 2 is all about Design and florals. We shared our approach to Event Design as well as a walk through our Design process from concept to creation. Florals are such a big part of our overall event design so Tim our Head Florist joined us for this session. Tim showed us how to make a larger feature arrangement and then everyone got their hands dirty by creating their own take home centrepiece. A delicious grazing lunch and more Q+A’s capped off the weekend and everyone went home with a new network of industry friends, a notebook full of tips/advice/processes and most importantly a new found confidence to propel them into 2019 and beyond.

We’re very honoured to host these workshops and are unapologetically candid in our storytelling and don’t held back when reliving the good, the bad and the ugly of what it takes to survive in this industry so come prepared to laugh, learn, cry and eat!

We can’t wait to host our next workshop and hope to see you there!

Big love,

Marie + Sarah x

ps. The best part of our workshop is getting these updates/feedback….

Hi Sarah & Marie,

I can’t thank you enough for your course on the weekend. For the first time ever, I submitted a quote which reflected my value as a designer. After running (quite stupidly!) under the process of designing a draft, showing it to the client and then having the client decide whether to go ahead or not – this time, I factored in my design costs to get to the point of presenting a draft. It felt a.m.a.z.i.n.g.

Thank you again, those words don’t seem to be doing enough for how I feel about the new lease how my business operates. I am literally not starting on this job I quoted until I am paid the fee for the draft and I feel empowered by that. I’m actually taking myself more seriously & respecting what I do as real work, which I can already feel will attract only clients who will respect what I do.

Cheers to making an actual profit now – I honestly don’t know what I was thinking before, under charging my skills & ability to design!

Thank you thank you thank you infinity,

Wendy

Hey hey! We just hit new squad goal heights. About a week ago we headed off for (slightly) warmer Sydney shores for our full day workshop.
We transformed the über chic La Porte space in Waterloo into an equally chic classroom for 28 lucky ‘girl bosses’ (says so on the hand creams)

Empowering, insightful and honest (according to the cool folk that attended), Marie + Sarah let our crew for the day into the inner workings of The Style Co, where they broke out some hard earned lessons, awesome tips on what it means to be in the business of being creative and general ‘game upping’ (yeah, we just made that a thing).

This time around we teamed up with the good peeps at Timbermill, Damselfly, Pressed Juices and Doughnut Time – high fives!
A special thanks to all our guests who travelled far and wide to hang out with us for the day. Go forth and get hustling!

Stay inspired and in the loop without workshops by following us on Instagram @thestyleco @howtostyleco and subscribing here.

New workshop now up here, finer details TBC.

Goodbye 2015… and hellooo 2016! What better way to reign in the year than with a healthy dose of The Style Co magic.

We kick started the year off with 2 ahh-mazing workshops in Melbourne and… wait for it… New Zealand!! This was the first time our leading ladies – Marie and Sarah, headed across the borders to host a workshop, and boy, were we excited.

A big shout out to all our attendees who travelled from near and far to join us.

Both workshops were buzzing with ideas and inspiration, business mistakes and successes… and we got to share all of that with awesomely brilliant individuals.

We could never thank you enough for sharing your time with us and helping us create some pretty damn spectacular memories.

A massive thank you to Dann Event Hire for making our classroom look amazing!

Of course how could we forget our ridiculously generous friends at: Caboose Coffee, Thank you Group, Popped, Health Lab, The Hello Workshop, Loving Earth, Fete Magazine, Musq Cosmetics, Go – To Skincare, Pressed Juices and Pics Peanut Butter for spoiling our attendees rotten. And Linen by Di Simmons, In-grained and Mi Goals for helping us make the days nothing short of magnificent!

Don’t forget to follow @howtostyleco on Instagram to see what adventures we get up to this year and stay updated on our future workshops. 2016 has started with a bang at The Style Co HQ and we can’t wait to share with you the exciting things we have planned xx
