The timeless love story of our achingly cool couple Zoë and Emilio was perfectly summed up when we asked them how they met…. ‘ Zoë worked at the pub. Emilio drank at the pub.’ We thought that response, just like them, was brilliant and needed to be up in lights – pronto!

Cut to their Big Day and we were bringing all the sexy, moody vibes necessary for a night of revelry. Turn up the audio on this blog post peeps, it’s all about the sensory experience, starting with the eerie music box tune playing in the elevator up to South Melbourne’s prized rooftop venue, Luminare.

Overgrown greenery and red rose bushes gathered wildly above the dance floor, where decrepit chandeliers tilted and flickered. The table design oozed romance with decadent gold leafing on vases that were overflowing with red roses and discarded petals strewn over the tables.

And then there was that deck, home of the feature bar and tropically adorned lounge pods that were the perfect haven away from the busy dance floor. Guests grabbed a cocktail, melted into the comfy velvet sofas and shared the city views with Mr. Flamingo and Co.

Wedding anniversaries are a time to celebrate and relive every delicious memory from the sweetest day of your life. 365 days have passed since we delivered the most epic of weddings, so tonight we’re reminiscing and celebrating all the awesomeness that was #MRANDMRSSWAGGYVEE.

The gorgeous Nicky and Matty come to us shortly after becoming engaged and it was very evident from day dot that this couple were very much in sync and very much in love. The perfect combination to ensure that we as a creative team and wedding planners could spend the next year crafting their big day to absolute perfection.

Their vision was very clear, both having proud Italian upbringings meant that this celebration was about Family with a capital F! It was about bringing together their nearest and dearest (yes all 300+ hand picked guests) to share a day full of love, laugher and of course, food. It was about welcoming every single guest on arrival and reminding them all night long of the special place they held in Nicky and Matty’s hearts. And finally, it was without a doubt, about the P-A-R-T-Y in true Swaggy Vee fashion!!

The newly purchased Verrocchi home was the perfect location for said occasion. The biggest and first of many family celebrations to be hosted here. Massive renovations works had commenced almost a year prior to the big day. An epic two week bump in saw us working with an ever changing property as contractors raced against the clock to get everything done in time. Think fifty odd tradesmen from all professions – landscapers, tilers, carpenters, riggers and painters, working in unison day and night to bring this event to life.

The final touches took place an hour before guests arrived. Leaving us with just enough time to step back and soak in the greatest transformation that we had ever been a part of. Guests quickly started to arrive and the buzz in the air was contagious. With every single step that guests took on the custom black carpet that ran the length of the property, we could feel their excitement and anticipation for the night ahead.

Every inch of the stunning 5500 square metres of the Verrocchi home was used. The modern yet classic ceremony seated 200 guests and took place in one of the gardens adjacent to the home. Nicky and Matty were married under a contemporary white steel arch with white florals and greenery growing throughout.
Guests then moved down to the pre dinner drinks bar but not before taking a photo on the terrace where we created a custom ‘MR & MRS VERROCCHI’ backdrop.

The look in the pre dinner drinks bar was a shift from the ceremony space. The custom Swaggy Vee bar had a dramatic colour palette of blush, burgundy and ruby tones, intentionally evoking a sexier, glamorous mood. Guests were then welcomed into the ‘Dining Hall’. A custom built facade was the entrance feature transforming the marquee into an extravagant modern dining experience. Over 40 square metres of dripping wisteria and foliage were suspended over the central tables which were flooded with white pillar candles below. Luxe white florals covered the outer tables creating an effortless balanced design. Personalised menus with gold foil mesh detailing sat along side soft grey crockery and gold cutlery. A diamond steel grid was suspended behind the bridal table filled with white florals and foliage framing the entire bridal party.

After dinner and speeches were completed guests were then welcomed onto the dance floor to continue festivities well into the wee hours. The stage design had to set the tone for the party ahead so naturally we knew it had to be impressive. For us that meant two layered triangular custom walls standing 12m wide and over 3m high. The front layer consisted of a diamond steel grid consistent with the bridal backdrop with wild burgundy foliage growing through out. Behind stood a custom light wall of over 200 exposed light bulbs pulsating to beat of the music.

The remaining hours of the night are a goldmine of memories with images of everyone, young and old gathering on that dance floor with their foam ‘Just Married’ hands in tow, letting loose and loving life. If you look closely you’ll see we might of got caught up in some of the foam hand shenanigans ourselves!

To our amazing team for working around the clock, for pushing the boundaries, for the love, sweat and tears that went into this wedding and for continuously digging deep and smiling through every challenge. Destination weddings call for wow factor! So when Jess + Jeff approached us to create their big day here in Oz we jumped for joy! With a design brief of a relaxed, modern, Australian getaway vibe we looked no further than Cloverdel, situated in Victoria’s ridiculously picturesque countryside.

There’s no surprise, that when you’re working with foodies who have their own organic food business back home, that a ‘farm-to-table’ concept was inevitably high up on the list. So the couple enlisted the catering geniuses over at Food and Desire to bring this concept to life.

Positioned underneath the willow trees by the lake, Jess and Jeff’s ceremony backdrop grew ground up. Ivory toned florals, soft textured pampass grass, and pops of blue delphinium all nestled amongst cascading wild foliages. Picture perfect!

Guests then moved into the pre dinner drinks space where a seating chart of stacked fruit crates overflowing with fresh herbs and florals sat pretty in the garden while guests sipped on cocktails, devoured canapes and casually made friends with the wombats and wallabies in the Australian native petting zoo. Yeah, you heard us. “What’s an Australian vacay without a petting zoo right?”

Contemporary furniture pieces were selected to compliment the modern Australian design.

Layered raw sandstone was the base for our textured tablescapes. A bed of earthy moss and native foliages were teamed with them hopelessly-romantic, dusty pink roses and dancing florals.

The epic custom 5-metre linear rope installation took centre stage, surrounded by rolling dunes of moss, florals and trees creating the ultimate pop up garden!

It was a party of epic proportions and a total memory-maker for Jess, Jeff and all their family and friends. Thank you Jess & Jeff for trusting us with your big day we had a ball!
