We’ve officially filed this under very good reasons to skip town and get hitched in a hay barn.
This stunning country town do in California is a contemporary take on the classic vineyard wedding. It’s the little details that make us weak in the knees. The bride is a letterpress and event designer by trade, so it makes sense that delicate typography features throughout the event decor. We really love the personalised seating cards and the Mr and Mrs B signpost – so sweet!
But let’s be honest, it’s the gorgeous lighting feature that has us in a love struck daze. Just imagine how it came to life as the sun disappeared behind the country hills. The table setting doesn’t try to compete with the main feature: they’ve kept it really simple with a lace table runner, allowing the lights to come to life. Ditching the traditional table cloth also lets the wooden table show its natural character, which is lovely. We think the lanterns and light bulbs really lift the barn’s rustic charm, creating a nice contrast without overwhelming the space.
Dressed in white cocktail dresses, the bridesmaids had white daisies wrapped with chrome and white ribbon, tying in beautifully with the reception’s simple floral arrangements. We love the way the simplicity has allowed the vineyard’s natural qualities to shine through, picked up through elements like the wooden chairs and green and white colour palate.
Merging traditional and contemporary, this timeless wedding favoured crisp, white details to create a clean, organic look. “I wanted something neutral and understated so that the style would last forever,” the bride explained. “I also wanted something not too terribly girly so that the day could be as much Nick’s as it was mine.”
Aubrey, mission accomplished. We’ve booked a one-way ticket to Santa Barbara.
