CARLTON’S Chris Judd and Rebecca Twigley will incorporate Melbourne’s fireworks into their New Year’s Eve wedding celebrations.
The high-profile couple will tie the knot in a glamorous merging of Melbourne’s sporting and fashion elite at the Carousel on Albert Park Lake on Friday.
And making the most of the setting and the night, the couple plan to turn the venue’s deck into “a big open-air lounge” from where they and their guests can enjoy the $2.38 million fireworks show over the city as the clock ticks over to the new year.
All is in readiness for the elegant wedding between the dual Brownlow medallist and the Myer racewear ambassador, who have been together for seven years.
Twigley has had her final fitting for her dream wedding gown that has been painstakingly crafted by Melbourne’s lauded designer duo of Anthony Pittorino and Jacob Luppino from the J’Aton label.
The gown has been inspired by the famous art deco Chrysler Building in New York. The designers have made Twigley a party frock that she can change into later in the evening.
Her bridesmaids’ gowns are also by J’Aton. “My bridesmaids look absolutely sensational,” Twigley said.
“Their dresses are out of this world. The J’Aton boys have gone above and beyond with them.”
Twigley’s bridal party will consist of her sister Kate and Judd’s sister Lauren, along with Toinnice Hynes and Felicity Wilson.
Judd’s best man will be West Coast Eagle Daniel Kerr, with groomsmen Jay Pavey and Tim Ferguson.
“I have got four bridesmaids and Chris has got three (in the groom’s party). We are not traditional, we are not matching up,” Twigley said in a recent interview.
About 220 guests will attend the nuptials, including Sport Illustrated model Jessica Gomes, Nick Stevens, Marc Murphy, Eddie Betts, Andrew Walker, Andrew Carrazzo, Carlton coach Brett Ratten, West Coast Eagles coach John Worsfold, Dean Cox, Andrew Embley, Darren Glass, and DJ Dean Cherny.
Brunswick-based wedding stylist Marie Cruz from the Style Co. has been charged with helping create the perfect event for the couple, who have turned down magazine offers for exclusive picture rights.
As one of the faces of Myer, Twigley has placed her bridal registry – where else? – with the department store giant.
The newlyweds will head for a four-day break in Noosa, where Judd proposed 13 months ago. They had a full-scale Italian “honeymoon” in October.
Judd will be back to training with Carlton in the new year, and Twigley will also be busy.
As well as her role with Myer, Twigley is the face of Paul Bram Diamonds, works as a speech pathologist at The Alfred hospital, and has joined Channel 9 to co-host travel show Postcards.

Update: Wedding of the year ends on a high
REBECCA and Chris Judd’s wedding party wrapped up about 2am yesterday with everything going to plan.
Guests enjoyed a party atmosphere at the Carousel in Albert Park at midnight to see in the new year and watch the fireworks from one of the best views in Melbourne.
The boys who made the stunning dress, Jacob Luppino and Anthony Pittorino from J’Aton, spent yesterday relaxing after a busy time making two gowns for Rebecca, as well as four bridesmaids dresses.
They were on hand to help her prepare for the big event (right). They said the wedding was “perfect”.
“It was amazing,” Luppino said.
“Rebecca and Chris have so many family and friends from Perth and New Zealand and it was quite beautiful.”
He said the wedding was not too formal and everyone was in a fantastic mood.
